While the Georgia Reptile and Amphibian Expo is full of interesting animals and people, there is one person that nearly everyone wants to meet. His name is Ken Panse and he has been involved with the conservation of the natural species found in the state of Georgia for well over two decades. In addition, he is considered one of the foremost handlers of exotic animals and gives many shows a year to the public. He presents these shows at his own location, called Exotic Reptile Adventures, that he has specifically created for this purpose. Panse's belief is that education is better absorbed in a live setting where both children and adults can see exactly what they are learning about. The combination of a first hand experience as well as a question and answer session keeps the many visitors excited in learning about reptiles and amphibians.
Before the opening of Exotic Reptile Adventures, Ken Panse and his wife were the owners of a mom and pop pet store in Douglasville. With many local teachers asking the couple to come to the schools to show off the different animals, Panse decided it was time for a change. Instead of only selling the animals, Panse became an ambassador for the Georgia Herpetological Society, going to schools and other events to spread the word about the many different species that live in the state.
In addition to the Exotic Reptile Adventures, Panse and his wife have come up with a new show, called the Reptile Wrangler. In this exciting program, the duo present to audiences the larger reptiles that live in the state, including a living alligator as well as many varieties of snakes, lizards, turtles, and amphibians. These two shows have garnered much attention for Panse and he is often the subject of newspaper articles and local television programs.
