The Georgia Herpetological Society is proud to present the 2008 Georgia Reptile Expo.  The Georgia Reptile Expo is a fund raising event geared towards raising monies for the Georgia Reptile and Amphibian Conservation Fund. The event will be held at the North Atlanta Trade Center on October 25th and 26th 2008 and will be a large gathering of reptile and amphibian breeders, suppliers, wildlife centers, government agencies, and the general public.

The Georgia Herpetological Societies aim is to promote conservation through education of the states reptile and amphibian populations. One facet of this goal is the Georgia Reptile and Amphibian Conservation Fund. Proceeds from the past Expos were used to start the GHS Reptile Conservation Fund.  The primary goal of the Georgia Reptile Expo is to generate proceeds that would fund the GHS Reptile Conservation Fund. The Conservation Fund is a source to provide grants to local organization in Georgia. These grants can be awarded for educational programs and exhibits, conservation driven research, or operational expenses incurred by centers and their reptile collection.

The recipient for the 2007 award from the fund was the Atlanta Botanical Gardens for research that they are doing to try and save the Gopher Frog in Georgia. Past funds were also used to create a traveling educational exhibit that is used statewide by the GHS and was seen by over 25,000 people last year.

The Georgia Herpetological Society is a non-profit organization with a pending 501c-3 status.  We are currently seeking sponsors for our upcoming 2008 show.  If your organization is interested in becoming a part of this fantastic event, we encourage you to contact our event director.
